I’m in the same boat as you, Ina. Very little interest in perfumes and rarely wearing one. Maybe it’s sensory overload and we just need some downtime.

Oddly, I’m not missing my former fanatical interest in scent at all. It’s something of a relief. I think I will eventually find a middle ground somewhere between the no-interest and the rabid interest.

Sometimes it is just nice to take a break.

new here in these parts, been lovin’ fragrance since I was young…bought 3 Dior fragrances by the time I was 14..the originals in the sixties….for 20 years I have been in the espresso business, now roasting, cupping and blending our own coffee beans…there is a connection here that is developing in my mind…training the olfactory nerves to recognize and to blend accentuating the notes you prefer…anyway this is an invasion of your blog but wanted to urge you out of your smellers block…maybe this philosophical rant is worth discussion of it’s own…
enjoyed the bit about your trip with smellin things to NYC…I want to fly to SCENT BAR for the day in LA just to smell everything…maybe we could do a group trip?
today I am wearing Apercu by Houbigant, yesterday I bought a bottle of White Tuberose by Anthousa for $12.99…that was fun.

As to the Guerlain, I tried it at the Sniffa Guerlain class, it was wonderful, but the price ($2600 limited edition) just so over the top…

Well, I had already decided this would probably be too sweet and “fluffY’ for me, and your review seems to confirm that. Glad to see you posting though. Hope whatever change is happening is for the good!

PS Just saw the DNA thing from the day before. Hokey, I guess, but if it weren’t so expensive I would be interested to try it. And I really like that shoe bottle!

I wish I had the magic elixir to revive the sleeping princess, but alas, nothing new has rocked my world recently. I know if I were a sleeping princess and someone waved a vial of a revolutionary new chypre fragrance under my nose, I’d be up in a flash!

Did the perfumers at Guerlain somehow wind up with a giant drum of heliotrope-iris-benzoin they’re trying to get rid of? I am really getting cross about this endless stream of tame, powdery things. (Drums fingers impatiently).

Sous le Vent looks better and better. Oh, wait — that was a reissue from the 30s, never mind…

Swarovski crystals are everywhere, seriously. No truly new discoveries to interest you, unfortunately. But a couple of re-discoveries, like Piment Brulant. Did that revive you at all?
