I’ve been swamped with work all week barely smelling any perfumes other than thoroughly testing the new Tom Ford Private Blend scents. I must say my opinion has changed drastically - the first impression proved to be wrong. Yes, it was indeed overwhelming having to smell all twelve of them after a long day (that also included sniffing over 50 raw materials), and, yes, they do need to be tested one by one, a day per fragrance at least. My current favorites are Tobacco Vanille, Noir de Noir, Velvet Gardenia, and Oud Wood. More detailed reviews to come soon. As for today, alas, I leave you scentless but not for long! Please do share if you have any fascinating fragrant discoveries. Happy weekend, all!

Cannot wait to read your reviews of these! And I am so very pleased to see two of my favorites among your favorites

Your current faves match mine, but I’d add on Moss Breches. My only fascinating fragrance discovery is not exactly a new one - it involves how different the lists are that DH and I have for what we consider essential to living when making up our budget. Foolish man thinks that housing is essential. More so than the Fords. Hmph!

Can’t wait to read your reviews. I know I need to give these (especially the ones I didn’t love right away) more time. On the other hand, I already bought 2 bottles (MB and OW) and I am determined not–I say, NOT–to buy any more, so maybe I shoud wait on this:)

Yup. I’m still surprised that Tom did as well as he did with so many coming out at one time.. I expected more clunkers in there. I’m still ranking mine, but I don’t get very far as the top five positions keep changing, though I do have 11 and 12 all set:
11 - Purple Patchouli, but will all due love
12 — Velvet Gardenia
There.

I look forward to reading your reviews soon. As for fascinating discoveries, I don’t have any. But today I’m wearing Fracas parfum for the first time and discovering that it is not such a loud tuberose as I had first thought it to be. It’s actually quite ladylike on me. I like it quite a bit.

This is a fascinating bunch of scents, isn’t it? I like Oud Wood too, in part because it doesn’t smell that much like oud.
And I didn’t like Tobacco Vanille at first blush, but loved the drydown. Yesterday I wore the amber scent and thought it was excellent, though not quite as good as Ambre Sultan. One thing these scents have going for them is staying power, which is refreshing after the fleeting Chanels.

Marina, what I’m still trying to figure out is what format to review them in. So many scents!

Elle, I’m afraid I have the same problem here. It’s computer expenses (or the new iPhone) versus perfumes. Ha! Moss Breches hasn’t gotten to me yet.

Judith, thank you! I’m determined to not buy any but you know how it goes with these things. Sheesh.

Patty, Velvet Gardenia did a 180 degree turn on my skin. I hated it at first, I now madly love it. Go figure.

Minsun, thank you! Fracas in parfum and in small quantities is indeed gorgeous!

Kris, yes, the staying power is amazing! I love how tenacious most of them are. No need to reapply as much, just enjoy the sillage. I think I just used too many words to express one thing. Ha! Oh well. I agree on the amber one. It’s good but not superior to Ambre Sultan.

FF, thank you! I love yours! Such a fun perspective on perfumes and all things fragrant you have.
