I Turn To You
March 25th, 2007
As mentioned in my previous post, I’m currently in a state of sample overload as well as slightly overwhelmed by all my perfume choices. Not much progress has been made since then, so today I turn to you, my dear readers, for help. I’m torn! So I’m asking for your input on what reviews you’d like to see on Aromascope in the next couple of weeks. The options are below (please specify which scent in particular interests you in each category):
- A spring floral
- A vintage scent
- A specific scent of your choice
- A new release
- A particular topic, not necessarily a review
To make it a bit more fun, I’ll do a drawing for a sample of Stoned. There’ll be three winners, so please mention in your comment if you’d like to participate. Update: the drawing is now closed. The winners will be announced tomorrow. Thank you for your feedback!

I would like to see more reviews about:
a spring floral
a new release
I will think about more specific topics, OK?
: )
2. Alica | March 26th, 2007 at 2:23 am
I would like to be entered in the drawing, many thanks.

I quite like the random ‘pull a sample from a bag’ trick. also, a spring floral (not yet written about on other blogs) and what about a perfume to wake you up in the morning? not that it must smell like coffee! please enter me in the drawing…thanks.

I agree with haus !
Is there a new scent that hasn’t yet been reviewed?
For the Spring ?
That would be great…
May I also join the fray ?
Thanks, Inushka !

I would love to read about spring florals but… I don’t really like spring florals. In general, warm weather scents are difficult for me. I’m new to this niche world, but last spring and summer I wore Nanadebarry Green and CB’s M #1 Narcissus. This year I’m loving TDC Bois D’Iris and 2 of the new Chanels, 28 La Pausa and Bel Respiro.
Everyone is talking lilac and lily but I think I lean towards flowers with spice or green as the star. Would love to hear your ideas and suggestions. Oh and please enter me in the drawing and thanks for such a wonderful blog.

I’d love to see another needle in a haystack random pick review and/or spring floral. Please enter me in the drawing.

I agree with Theresa…do another needle in a haystack pick. It will be a surprise for everyone! Please enter me in the drawing, as well.
8. Judith | March 26th, 2007 at 6:53 am
Ok, I guess I am reading this differently from everyone else. I thought you wanted one choice in each category–which is hard.
So I’ll try
spring floral–would really like to hear about cb Cradle of light (this is my first choice)
vintage–chanel jasmin? Ok, any vintage scent would please me.
specific scent–back to cradle of light
new release–if you can get your hands on any of those Guerlains. . . ..
topic–hmmm, storing perfume
9. Judith | March 26th, 2007 at 6:53 am
Oh, and I want to be in the draw!
10. Elle | March 26th, 2007 at 7:26 am
Hmm. Like Judith, I’m guessing you want one in each category, so here goes:
spring floral - Yosh Stargazer or maybe a comparison review of lily scents?
vintage - anything at all and the more, the better
specific scent - your take on PG Psychotrope or any of the Kanebo or Shiseido scents
new release - Montale Aoud Blossom
topic - innovative ways to radically increase perfume budget
11. Flor | March 26th, 2007 at 8:17 am
I’d like to read about a spring floral, something beautiful and accessible.
12. Billy | March 26th, 2007 at 8:49 am
I would love you to find a discontinued vintage to review, perhaps something from Hermes or
New Release: an in-depth review of any one of the slighted Les Exclusifs from Chanel (maybe a comparison of the old to the 4 new rerelease scents–I’m especially interested in Cuir de Ruisse) Perhaps that is a combination of the vintage/new release idea.
Topic: unusual citruses, or best unisex fragrances
13. newproducts | March 26th, 2007 at 9:26 am
My ideas:
A spring floral - La Rose de Rosine
A vintage scent - Eveing in Paris, the vintage version
A specific scent of your choice - Parfum Sacre
A new release - Any of your choice
A particular topic, not necessarily a review - layering ideas.
Hope at least one of them make it!
And please enter me in the draw! Thank you!

Oooh-
I’d be curious for your take on Air de Molinard…
That’s a great spring scent, not well known, and infinitely wearable !
It would create many lemmings…
15. Marina | March 26th, 2007 at 9:55 am
I think what you should do is to have a series of rose scent reviews…:-D
16. CindyN | March 26th, 2007 at 9:56 am
Spring florals gets my vote. Also , I would love to be in the Stoned drawing.
17. parisa | March 26th, 2007 at 10:33 am
Would you be able to do a review of Aoud Velvet by Montale? Actually, any of the Aoud series would be fun to read. I’m simply in awe of the line so to read your perspective would be wonderful!
18. ahtx | March 26th, 2007 at 10:36 am
Hello! Been reading and enjoying for awhile but a first comment…
let’s see: I love the suggestions above. Am looking for unusual spring scents on the cooler side. Maybe even non-floral (green or…?)
In anticipation of summer, and for selfish satisfaction I would love to hear about scents with a salty accord.
Love to hear about vintage stuff. Can’t recommend though.
Topic: Inspired by Columbina’s review today, I’d love to hear about scents in your collection that bring you back to a particular geographic place.
Many thanks and please enter me in the drawing!

Would love to read about a Spring floral–maybe a new
Spring floral.
Would also love to be a participant in the drawing.
Thanks.

I vote spring floral, and would like to be in on the drawing, thanks
21. Christen | March 26th, 2007 at 11:55 am
Hi - my first post today, although I’ve been a fan for some time now. ‘Tis my morning indulgence…
Spring floral - something crisp and green, along the lines of Nanadebary Green. (No ‘crunch greens’ a la Valentino’s latest monstrosity, thank you very much!)
I’m with the crowd for Aoud Velvet by Montale. (Parisa, I’m in love with the line, too.)
I’d be interested in learning more about the Shiseido scents.
Would love a post on layering scents. I think that layering might be the next frontier for me.
Thanks! Please enter me in the drawing, too.

spring floral - perhaps compare and contrast La Chasse aux Papillons with La Chasse Extreme?
vintage - I’d love to see more on vintage perfumes but don’t have any to recommend since I need to learn more.
choice - Mona di Orio Lux or Carnation ( I see you’ve reviewed her other two scents)
new release - those Tom Ford things when they come out
topic - Something focusing on a specific perfumery component, such as amber or musk, and examples of perfumes showing different aspects of the component.
And please include me in the drawing. Thanks!

I am also comment #12, but I wanted to add that I have been dying for a review of the Badgley Mischka scent. I ADORE it, but I am looking for a real breakdown of its components. It could be your spring floral?
and Please enter me in the drawing!!
24. Solander | March 26th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
I’d like to see a review of Profumum’s Fumidus because, well, because it’s bizarre. I’m interested to know if everyone in the world thinks it’s an evil, toxic smoke scent or if anyone enjoys it…
I had a funny experience with it last time I tried it. It was an evil smoke scent, very harsh, but only for a little while. Then it resembled my lovely Bandit! A similar sour-ish/juicy green/leather/hay scent, quite delicious, only darker and denser and more masculine than Bandit.
And I’d love to be in the drawing.
25. Rachael | March 26th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
A spring floral would be perfect for me, because I’ve yet to find a good “spring” scent. I have all the other seasons, laugh.
Please enter me into the drawing!
26. Kyra | March 26th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
Love to see more on vintage and underappreciated classics. I won’t be specific as I don’t know what you have hidden in your stash, but i have a new and profound weakness for chypres. And sure, put my name in the hat for Stoned, even if I can barely remember when the name last described me.
27. jill | March 26th, 2007 at 7:42 pm
spring florals please, I’m already planning to wear Paris Roses des Bois tomorrow, and it’s rainy and bleak here.
I’d love to be entered in your drawing also, thanks for having it!
28. Tigs | March 26th, 2007 at 10:32 pm
People want to see another spring floral review?!? (Sorry, I can get grumpy about spring.) It seems to me that there has been entirely enough spring scent bloggery, so in an unwarranted fit of obstinacy, I will suggest reviews of the utterly seasonally inappropriate Ginestet scents. But then, just to pacify all you rabid lovers of mud, bad weather and chilly blossoms, I will suggest vintage Chant D’Arome for the second category (it may smell “fresh”, but at least there’s no LotV in there.) My specific scent nomination is Keiko Mecheri’s Gourmandises, a lovely Yann Vasnier scent stranded in the KM line. I’d love to know what you think of it, Ina. New release - hmmm, have you written on Anne Pliska yet? And I’d love another Needle in a Haystack.
29. Flora | March 27th, 2007 at 12:31 am
Please enter me in the drawing! I wanna get “Stoned.”
Spring floral: Caron’s Muguet de Bonheur
Vintage: A discontinued Patou or Caron? Or perhaps a Molinard?
Specific scent: Absolu de Rochas
New release: So many! - how about a Men’s fragrance such as Zegno Intenso or Kiton Black? I am curious about those lesser-known Italian designer scents.
Other topic: Who will be the next big “star” niche perfumer of a comparable magnitude to Serge Lutens or Jean Laporte?
30. Ina | March 27th, 2007 at 12:45 am
Thank you all for your feedback! Looks like spring florals win, so I’ll be doing several posts on that. I’ll be mulling over your other awesome ideas as well.
31. qwendy | March 27th, 2007 at 1:43 am
Late as ever, and in the minority, what a surprise! I never tire of reading about vintage scents and related topics! I do so tire of reading about spring florals, unless they are darkly vintage. I just do spring scents as defaults, and this Spring I plan to try to push the envelope and try to do rich intense springlike scents! But I love being surprised, so I promise I’ll tune in. V curious about Stoned, if I’m not too late to enter! And I like Flora’s topic about new star niche perfumers………….
