Lazy Friday

March 16th, 2007

I’m neither sick nor overworked, yet I have nothing for today. Writer’s block, lack of inspiration, pure laziness - whatever you call it. To sum up the week (and to make it somewhat on topic), here’re the perfumes I’ve worn and enjoyed:

What are yours? Happy weekend, all!

    Eau d’Italie Paestum Rose (disappears within minutes *WAAAAH* *sobs disconsolately*)
    Lutens Chypre Rouge
    Lutens Gris Clair
    Les Néréides Oriental Lumpur
    Hermessences Ambre Narguilé

    (I’m doing the “needle in the haystack” thing with my samples - at least I wear them instead of just letting them stew….). Oriental Lumpur is gorgeous, and Chypre Rouge is definitely growing on me. :-)

    Have a great weekend, everybody!

    I’ve been wearing Champaca at least once a day almost all week because of you and am now having a huge inner debate over whether or not I need the parfum. Have also been wearing Amoureuse, Ellie D, Orris Noir and Sous le Vent.

    I was lucky enough to get a dozen lovely roses on Monday of this week, so I’ve been trotting out the rose scents so as not to clash with my 12 beauties:

    Divine Divine
    Keiko Mecheri Gourmandises
    Pafum D’Empire Eau de Suave

    All trusted and true favorites for me this week, I have gotten tired of testing constantly and have just been enjoying what I have:
    Le Labo Fleur d’Oranger
    Marc Jacobs Essence
    SL Douce Amere
    SL Cherguie
    Bond West Side
    Have a great weekend

    I wore:

    FM Bigarade Concentree
    FM Une Fleur de Cassie (trying to write some FM reviews)
    PdN Le Temps d’un Fete
    Rosine Twill Rose
    comparative wax and liquid forms of Chergui

    I should have worn some Champaca, like you. Sigh. I love that scent.

    Thanks, everyone! Loved reading your lists. :)
    Evilpeony, I adore La Myrrhe! But it’s not loved by many. It works great on my skin. Very bitter and mature, so to speak but the drydown is amazing.

  • 15. Solander  |  March 17th, 2007 at 9:49 am

    Oh dear, let’s see if I can recall… I’ve mostly been testing new samples, as usual.
    Monday - Miss Balmain, I’m quite sure.
    Tuesday - um, was this when I tested the horrible plasticky sweet Lollia samples? I think so, yes…
    Wednesday - Angelique Encens, and then, because the sun was shining I wanted something heady and tropical, so BPAL’s Bayou in my hair.
    Thursday - Tabarome faded fast, so I started to experiment with Bois d’Encens and Escentric 01.
    Friday: YSL Nu for class, then I went to the movies (El Laberinto del Fauno) swept in a lovely cloud of L’air de rien (I bet I was a pest to the people sitting next to me, but someone smelled strongly of garlic so that’s only fair)

  • 16. Solander  |  March 17th, 2007 at 9:51 am

    Oh and today I’m wearing Ambre Cannelle. What a nostalgic scent of cracked, dry, yellowed old guest soaps and musty old houses!

  • 17. newproducts  |  March 17th, 2007 at 1:54 pm

    Oops, here’s my late answer, Evilpeony: I find La Myrrhe to be sparkling, slightly powdery, sweet, and vaguely floral (even though I don’t think there are any floral notes listed), and very comforting. I have a decant and I think that will be enough for me. I will see how I feel once I finish the decant!

  • 18. carmencanada  |  March 17th, 2007 at 6:30 pm

    I wish I could enjoy La Myrrhe, as I own a bell jar of it (a gift). Maybe I’ll give it another try.

    This week was all about sun and balmy winds in Paris, so I broke out:
    Serge Lutens Un Lys, so astoundingly sensuous I could’ve snogged myself;
    Diorissimo vintage parfum;
    Frédéric Malle Une Fleur de Cassie, my ! what a warm, deliciously slightly funky drydown she has;
    and today, with the clouds coming back to tint Paris with a dove-grey coat, a dove-grey scent, Jicky, just to remind myself how much I love it…

    I’m pretty jealous of you ladies with decants (or flacons) of the new Chanels which temporary circumstances have forced me to enjoy only in the boutiques… the want monster rears his head, RUN!

  • 19. Ina  |  March 19th, 2007 at 9:40 pm

    Solander, I’ve never tried Ambre Cannelle! Sounds intriguing.

    Carmencanada, love your choices! Ah, any perfume worn in Paris just sounds so charming. :)
