Perfumes To Try

March 7th, 2007

My perfume wishlist changes all the time, sometimes several times a day. There’s also a sub-wishlist of hard to obtain or obscure scents I’d love to try. Here’s what’s on my current Must Try rotation. If you’ve smelled any of these scents, please comment, I beg you.
La Mome

La Mome by Balmain (rose, freesia, pink berry, violet, raspberry, myrrh, iris, musk, opoponax, amber). Exclusive to Marionnaud in France. The scent is released alongside the film La Mome dedicated to Edith Piaf.

Miss Charming

Miss Charming by Juliette Has A Gun (mandarin, rose, lychee, musk, gourmand notes)

Lady Vengeance

Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun (rose, patchouli, vanilla).

Essencia do Brasil

Essencia do Brasil by Natura (breu branco tree resin in Brazil). Supposed to be a smoky, honeyed, resinous scent.

Eau Hegemonienne

Eau Hegemonienne by Guerlain (bergamot, lemon, lavender, herbs, sandalwood, vanilla). Originally created in 1890, right after Jicky. An aromatic hesperidic scent with a hefty price tag.

MIss Carlota

Miss Carlota - a French beauty salon and spa.

Lait Miel (bergamot, peach, apricot, jasmine, violet, tuberose, heliotrope, tiare, monoi, honey, coconut milk, chocolate, vanilla, dried fruits, caramel).

Rose Jasmin Fleur d’Oranger - a voluptuous floral bouquet.

Ambre Musc Santal (citrus, floral notes, patchouli, sandalwood, cistus, vanilla, benzoin, musk).

    Mornin’ , my lovely !

I’ll go Mome, Brasil, and Hegemonniene with you…sigh.
    Fat chance.

Hope all’s well with you, babe.

Makes me extremely happy when I see a list like this and I don’t immediately reach for a pen to copy all of them onto my own lemming list. Too much citrus, fruit and/or freesia in most of them, but I am seriously intrigued by the sound of the Essencia do Brasil. Off to google.

La Mome sounds wonderful! Where did you even hear of it? Now I want it too!!

I want to try the new L’Artisan, Jatamansi Eau de Toilette and all the old, discontinued L’Artisans. I am only slightly curious about the Guerlain ouds, simply because they are oils, and I just can’t be bothered with oils. Oh and I want to try 12 Tom Ford scents.

I’m brazilian and I must say that I prefer much more the “breu branco’s” sister, called “priprioca”. Both are produced with materials from Amazonia (also known as rain forest). They’re very confortable and warming, with elegant an elegant woody aura, what’s not very usual in brazilian fragrances (we prefer the light, subtle ones). I have both and they could be found almost everywhere here in Brazil. Breu branco is a white resin with a powerful scent that used to be burned in rituals of the forest indians. The fragrance could be find as “essencia” (eau de toillete), “água de banho” (something like a splash to be used as the last ‘water’ of the shower) and as eau de parfum. More information in natura’s site (just in portuguese and spanish, I guess): www.natura.net

okay, so i’m trucking along not really craving anything, even though i did just order samples from fragrant fripperies, and what do you do but come up with a list of scents i didn’t even know i wanted to try. thanks a lot. ;)

    I agree with Minette…You are evil, Ina…simply evil! :):)

    Hugs!

My “to try” list is absurdly long… and now Hegemonienne is on it… Mostly because of the release date and the name (hesperidic scents don’t tend to work very well on my skin).

Chaya, you never know, maybe we’ll get to Paris this year and smell these. ;)

Elle, that one intrigues me the most, too. Also, Lady Vengeance.

  • 11. Ina  |  March 8th, 2007 at 11:10 pm

Minsun, I read about it first on Now Smell This, then on Osmoz.

  • 12. Ina  |  March 8th, 2007 at 11:11 pm

Marina, I want to try Guerlain oils, too! Somehow, I’ve been completely oblivious to the fact. Must find more info!

Juliana, THANK YOU so much for your comment! I’ve seen the scents on the Natura web site but I don’t think they ship here. Must check eBay. Good to know you like them!

Minette, eep! But I’m doing you a favor, I really am! ;)

Tove, I’m hoping to smell Eau Hegemonienne when I’m in NYC next month.

There’s something about those Juliette Has a Gun bottles that makes my heart beat a little faster. I’m such a suc*er for that kind of design and especially Lady Vengance sounds interesting, at least on the paper. La Mome will also be sniffed eventually. So many perfumes, so little time and money *sighs*

    Have a nice weekend Ina:)

Julia, I know! That’s the one that intrigues me a lot, too. So many perfumes, so little time and money - no kidding!
