Chilling

December 27th, 2006

Still chilling today but stay tuned for my review of the new Lisa Simon Monsoon Season body mist, new at Beautyhabit, and, to wrap up the year, Best of 2006 on Friday. Any new fragrance discoveries/acquisitions you’d like to share? I’m all ears.

My discoveries are not new, but I’ve been trying out as many of the Caron fragrances as possible lately. Alpona is my latest sample, and I am undecided about it because it has my fragrance nemesis - grapefruit. I think that Alpona is masterfully done, and I do love the spicy dry down. Next up is N’Aimez Que Moi. I’ve also fallen in love with many of the Sonoma Scent Studio fragrances - Bois Epices, Cashmere, Marrakesh. I sampled a new one last night called Opal, and it is along the lines of Perfect Veil but better on me. Next up from SSS is Ambre Bois. I can’t wait to read your review of the Lisa Simon!

No brand new discoveries, other than the layering discovery of Narcisse Noir w/ CB Musk and I owe that to March. And I’m loving that Lisa Simon scent - thanks to you. :-)

I’m rediscovering Eau Noire and Douce Amere. Oh yes.

After trying it on several times, SL’s Arabie has developed wonderfully for me. Because I love skin creams, I’ve been using the Amber lotion from Sage, and discovering the blood orange element makes it work with Arabie. I also discovered, much to my huge surprise, that L’Occitane has a fragrance that has interesting possibilities. It’s a man’s fragrance, but who cares? It has an interesting tobacco, leather, spice feeling to it. When worn with the Amber lotion, it becomes quite feminine and lovely.

Kathy, Alpona is a tricky one. I sort of like it but could never wear it. SSS scents are brilliant!

Elle, I’m not even going to attempt that layering. Nope. I will not.

Leo (or Lee?), Eau Noire is superb! Adore it.

SniffQ, I adore Arabie in concept but not as much in wearibility. Fascinating to read about your layering experiments! I’ll have to check out that L’Occitane scent.

Trina, I’m totally blank on what Stoned you’re talking about. Must go google!

Got the Gautier Variety Mini set. Fragile smells good on me, and was the reason my goddaughters bought the set–the little snow globe mini struck their fancy. My husband likes Le Male, so I gave him that one. The set also includes G 2 and Classique.
I also got new bottles of old faves from Fragonard and Molinard–The ‘Nards… and 3 perfume books. My people know I am a ‘Fume freak.

Giselle, what a cool set! I’ve been curious to revisit Fragile. 3 perfume books? Which ones?
