Winter Holiday Wishlist

December 5th, 2006

SnegurochkaEven though I don’t celebrate Christmas, December has always been a magical month, mostly due to the festive spirit of New Year’s (which in my childhood was associated with Father Frost and his assistant Snow Maiden, lots of candy, clementines, walnuts, fun TV shows, New Year’s tree with obnoxious decorations, and fighting with my brother, primarily over candy). I know it’s only December 6 but I haven’t been home for two years (the longest ever), and the nostalgia is getting to me. This post, however, isn’t intended as a self-pity party. On the contrary, it’s all about self-indulgence - I’m putting together a wishlist for myself. Here’re some of the things I’d like to get in the near future:

  • Vintage Shalimar parfum - because Paris Hilton wears it.

And a trip home.

What fragrant things are on your holiday wishlist?

Russian Novii God! There’s nothing quite as magical …Snow Maiden …this concept is so lost on my american friends, they don’t understand that the New Year smells of clementines because that would practically be the only time of the year they were available:)

    R. O. F. L. Because Paris Hilton wears it!

    Good one!

My number one wish is for my pooch to get better and be healthy.

Other than that, I want a trip to Paris, Sigerson Morrison boots, my closet to be cleaned, organized and fabulous,
    Guerlain Cherry Blossom Parfum.

That is all I can think of right now as it is almost 3am.

I wish for you a lovely trip to your homeland and Etro scarves and Oppoponax candles. I love that candle too.

Please tell me she doesn’t. Lie if you have to. Just tell me she doesn’t.
I need that Michael Edwards book to. And I also need a time machine, an apt. in NYC on Ludlow St., an apt. in Moscow, a permanent pass on British Air and for Serge to adopt me. If I get all that from Father Frost I’ll maybe survive this season. :-)

Because Paris Hilton wears it?????? Oh no! For real? I thought she wore the stuff she made - Heiress - or some such nonsense.

  • 5. March  |  December 6th, 2006 at 8:14 am

Oh, I want a snow maiden! Maybe we’ll research her. Over here at Casa March we practice a bizarre combo of all my favorite bits of the season — we have a creche, Noah’s ark, Santa, etc., I bet there’s room for the Snow Maiden. Growing up we had one of those great spinning Swedish (?) candle-powered wood things, which I inherited, plus a Russian Santa (although he must be called something else) with his own fabulous tree with all sorts of odd ornaments, which my dad still puts out at Christmas. As a child, I was envious of our hipper neighbors who had those silver aluminum trees with the rotating color-wheel shining on to them …. sigh. I love this time of year.

Bellablue, I`m with you about clementines. When I was small, in Slovakia they were available only in December. We always got them for St.Nicholas along with candies. And and we ate lots of them at Christmas. It still somehow feels wrong to me to eat them in different time of the year.

    Ok, I have simple needs
    Mugler Parfum Coffret
    Le Labo Olafactory
    bottle of Cuir Ottoman
    bottle of Querelle
    warmer leather jacket
    nice flats

Oh, and a trip to Paris (not Hilton) please!

  • 8. greeneyes  |  December 6th, 2006 at 8:24 am

To never, ever wear anything Paris Hilton wears. ;)
    Seriously…
Vol de Nuit parfum in the original bottle.
    A trip to NYC.
    Animal-print ballet flats that fit.
    Hermes Kelly bag.
    Win the lottery.
For all in the world of perfume blogging to have a safe and wonderful holiday!

Trip back to NYC and to Paris
Parfum of all of my favorite scents, if if it doesn’t come in that strength… yet
(following Marina’s idea today) EDPs of all of the Yosh and Jalaine oils
To not hear Paris mm-mm-mmm’s name again in 2007
To not see Britney’s uncovered parts again it 2006 and not at all in 2007
For Stuigi to be nice to me on Basenotes and quit calling me a business like it’s some dirty thing. :)

Is this it? Inochka, it is a very modest wish-list. Todd alone could probably cover most of it :-) And yes, you are worth it!

You know, I am not in a festive mood for some reason….I am trying to think of what I even want, apart from a trip home, like you. Well, ok, here is what I want:

    Christiano Fissore Cashmere EDT
    PG Musc Maori
    Chanel No 22
    Le Labo Patchouli 24
    Cuir Ottoman
    Fleur de Narcisse
    White BMW SUV
…or just to win a jackpot…then I’d buy all these things myself. :-)

Oh, you are definitely worthy of Nahema and I will always be a staunch supporter of anyone considering getting it! Your December months sound glorious and I really love the picture of the snow maiden or maybe it’s the snow queen!

The Aedes home spray is also on my wishlist too.

  • 12. tmp00  |  December 6th, 2006 at 11:11 am

    I would like:

A bell jar of Mandarine Mandarin

    A bottle of Cuir Venenum

Andy Tauer to fall madly, irrevocably in love with me, so for the good of everyone I can command him to keep making Orris (see? I’m willing to think of all of you!)

A 560SL so I can live that “American Gigolo” moment.

A lotto win so I can afford to keep it and the required Armani outfits and the personal trainer to fit into them.

Paris and Britney finding G-d and joining a religious order involving silence, modesty and most important, complete and utter shunning of press.

    A nice sandwich.

Yep, the Shalimar. Forget Paris! You have to have it, Ina!

I got my Christmas wish on Saturday: A black miniature poodle puppy named Lily Autumn. I gotta tell you: She is the cutest puppy on earth! And so smart and affectionate. Now, if we could only get her to stop chewing our feet and legs, lol!

    Hugs, rsj

What a great wishlist :) I too want a big ol’ bottle of vintage Shalimar parfum. And since it’s a wishlist, I’d ask for it in a perfect condition presentation, too!

Hm, I’d also ask for Esteban’s Teck & Tonka to come in a perfume version, perhaps, but I don’t suppose this will ever happen.

Mitsouko parfum - that’s one thing I do want that is reasonable to ask for :) And I am asking for more Coco in parfum this year for the same reason you want the Diptyque candle: love the opopanax :)

  • 15. Tommasina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 12:56 pm

Parfum d’Hermes at a reasonable price - or, better still, that AND not discontinued.

Ditto with Cerruti Nino Cerruti, the (IMO) wonderful men’s fragrance from the ’80s, also criminaly d/c.

    Arpege UNreformulated.

    Angel to be discontinued NOW.

I bet there’s more but that’ll do for now.

  • 16. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:33 pm

Bellavue, so true! The nostalgia is killing me.

  • 17. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:34 pm

Jen, I hope your pooch gets better soon! Sending healing vibes. Love your wishlist! I’m not actually going home this year, not until next summer, most likely. *sigh*

  • 18. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:35 pm

Elle, no, that was a joke. ;) Do you really think I’d wear it if she did?? *shudder* I want a pass for British Airways, too, please, Father Frost.

  • 19. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:35 pm

Flor, that was a joke. ;)

  • 20. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:36 pm

March, how fascinating! In Russian we call the Santa Father Frost or Ded Moroz. ;) You definitely need a Snow Maiden.

  • 21. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:37 pm

Benvenuta, same here! I eat loads of them in December. :)

  • 22. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:38 pm

Judith, love your list! Perfect time to buy Cuir Ottoman with the BH special offer. Just a thought.

  • 23. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:38 pm

Greeneyes, love your list, too! I’m lemming Vol de Nuit parfum as well. Oh, and animal print flats are fun! Have you checked bodenusa.com?

  • 24. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:40 pm

    Patty, I share your wishes!

  • 25. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:40 pm

Marina, modest, huh? I didn’t think so. ;) Love yours! Hope you get most of it soon! Especially the BMW.

  • 26. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:41 pm

Christina, thank you! It’s the Snow Maiden. :)

  • 27. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:42 pm

Tom, LOL at your list! Hope your wishes come true! Surely, the sandwich one must have by now.

  • 28. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:43 pm

Robin, how adorable!! Congrats on the new puppy! We’re in the process of deciding if we want to get a cat. :)

  • 29. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:44 pm

Katie, Mitsouko parfum is on my wishlist as well! I’ve been mad about Guerlain lately. Hope yours come true!

  • 30. Ina  |  December 6th, 2006 at 9:45 pm

Tommasina, have you checked European eBay for the first two items? I’ve seen Parfum d’Hermes show up on there quite a bit. Good luck!
