“Close Your Eyes And… ” by Miller et Bertaux
October 3rd, 2006
Francis Miller and Patrick Bertaux are the people behind the Miller et Bertaux brand that’s known for its modern, unique clothing, art, accessories, and now perfumes (you can see some of their work on Milleretbertaux.com). “Close Your Eyes And… “ is the fourth addition, the previous ones being (For You)/Parfum Trouve, Spiritus/Land , and Green, Green, Green And… Green. Just like its predecessors, it’s a very wearable, captivating, albeit not particularly unique but still quite an agreeable scent. It also comes in a different bottle.
“Close Your Eyes And… ” features the notes of Sicilian lemon zest, mandarin, jasmine petals, Turkish rose, Guaiac wood, pear, cinnamon, heliotrope, almond. A very gentle, sort of airy scent as if you’re smelling but a vapor of the ingredients. With its translucent effect achieved by soft rose powder and dusty heliotrope sweetness, it touches your skin like chiffon. The other notes (pear, mandarin, jasmine, almond) are practically undetectable, with the exception of perhaps Guaiac wood which adds a touch of balmness. Perfect for any season and any occasion, especially if you want to leave but a whiff of your scent behind you as opposed to heavy duty sillage. Close your eyes and float away in the clouds would be my interpretation, and I’m still deciding whether that’s something I want to do in the near future.
“Close Your Eyes And… ” is currently available at Lusciouscargo. For more retailer information, please check French Look.

Airy, transluscent, chiffon?
*loses interest*
Good news is that you say pear is undetectable. I am afraid of pear.

Pass. Sounds far too polite and nice to me. A tea party scent. Phew! I also miss the old bottles, which I thought were very cool.

Huh. I’m annoyed with this one just because of the price point. 50ml fro $100 when the other two are less than that? Grrr…

Beloved, it sounds pretty-
[kiss of death!]
but do I really need it?
Do you?
Does anyone?
And, more importantly, why am I being an ass to someone who is dear and true, and did all that sniffing by herself?
Apologies, lovely one…

Well, I really like this line, so I am still holding out hope. . .different chemistry and all that. . .one never knows, do one?

I want a sample of this, but I sense from your review, Ina, that it may not be a keeper.
Hugs!

See, this doesn’t worry me. No real interest. Their scents are okay, but they don’t make my eyes spin with avaricious delight. Now those Love Potions, you naughty naughty Ina. They’ve got me salivating as well as eye spinning. I might fall over any second. And type horizontal-style.

Marina, pear can be deadly, I agree.
9. Ina | October 4th, 2006 at 9:10 pm
Elle, the old bottles are totally cool.

Patty, yes, I’m with you on the price. Grrr indeed!
11. Ina | October 4th, 2006 at 9:11 pm
Chaya, I don’t really need it, and I’m not sure you do either.
12. Ina | October 4th, 2006 at 9:12 pm
Judith, if you love the line, then, yes, definitely a must try.
13. Ina | October 4th, 2006 at 9:12 pm
Robin, I imagine they’ll have samples available soon. Well, Lusciouscargo probably has them now.

Leopoldo, I hope you haven’t been horizontal all this time after posting your comment.

[...] I was a bit unsure what to post about today. I felt a bit blank, in spite of having sniffed quite a few scents this week. So I told my friend about this affliction, and she came up with this idea: why not ask your readers if “they have any tips for drug running or robbing banks to fund their ‘fume addiction?” Brilliant!! So, that’s exactly what I’m going to do today – ask you to brainstorm for ways to fund your perfume hobby addiction! Not necessarily such drastic and quite illegal options as bank robbery or drug trafficking, though. To make it more fun, I’ll throw in a sample giveaway. Let’s see, what shall we give away today. How about the new Miller et Bertaux scent, “Close Your Eyes and… “? Happy weekend, all! [...]
