Nuit d’Amour is the newest addition to the exclusive Guerlain perfume line that is released in a limited number of 500 ml Baccarat flacons of parfum and 60 ml atomizer bottles of eau de parfum (last year’s release was Plus Que Jamais). It’s said to contain the notes of lychee, pink berries, rose, jasmine, iris, violet, musk, sandalwood. Needless to say, it was greatly anticipated, not just for its exclusivity but also due to the fact of being quite smitten by the beauty of Plus Que Jamais. Having said this much, I find myself stuck and void of descriptive words but let me give it a shot.
The Night of Love in my rather romantically challenged imagination would smell of lushness, devotion, silkiness, adoration, intensity, caress, depth… It would most certainly not smell of a berry-fruit potion which is what Nuit d’Amour turns out to be. Pretty, inoffensive fruity-floral, with a slightly honeyed, luminous drydown that reminds me of Indian summer season and relaxing strolls along alleyes covered with golden-yellow leaves. In contrast to last year’s Plus Que Jamais with its voluptuous, ample shape, it’s a carefree, dreamy adolescent that aspires to be many things but has yet to achieve them. Dreaming of love, not quite experiencing it. To give it justice, however, it does stand out in the crowd of fruity-florals released these days – it’s distinct and well-blended and perhaps not easily forgotten. As for its exclusivity and a hefty price tag, hmm…
Nuit d’Amour is currently available directly from the Guerlain flagship store in Paris.
