Yosh Ginger Ciao
June 7th, 2006
Today I’m wearing my favorite Ginger Ciao perfume oil by Yosh Han. It has the notes of black coconut, tiger lilly, neroli, ylang-ylang, ginger, and basil. I’ve tried several coconut fragrances, and I must say Ginger Ciao surpasses them all. First of all, it’s a perfume oil, and I don’t favor oils mostly because they tend to turn on my skin after about fifteen minutes. This one doesn’t only turn but actually develops om my skin and stays on for hours. Secondly, the notes are masterfully blended. Ginger and basil are softened by ylang-ylang with a warm accord of coconut. It’s predominantly a coconut scent, with just a slight twinge of ginger and a suntan lotion feel. Perfect for hot summer days!
Ginger Ciao is available at Luckyscent, La Creme Beauty, and Breathe Spa. For more retailers, please check Eau de Yosh.

One of my fav summer scents of all time. Actually, I love this in winter too. I think it was Anjali who said eons ago that this was what Sage Onyx wanted to be when it grew up. So true.

Yes, Sage Onyx is a distant cousin that dropped out of high school and never went to college. I find coconut alone pretty boring (unless it’s in my mouth) but with a twist - it rocks my world.

Hi Ina,
This one is really nice and I often overlook it. I think I do that to help it last longer, lol! I mailed her once and asked if she would consider making refills for these since they are a bit $$$ but she said that she’d consider it but for right now –no. Boo hoo!

Hi, C.! I don’t wear this one often either but I find its lasting power to be so amazing that I don’t mind the size of the bottle.
A cheaper refill would be a great idea, though!

I adore Ginger Ciao though I have not yet purchased a bottle. I like Sage Onyx too. It’s like the country cousin of Ciao. I do have Onyx because it’s much more affordable. Come autumn, I may cave and get Ciao.

I love this scent, though I haven’t been wearing it much. You have inspired me to wear it again. As you said, it’s great for summer! For a cheaper alternative (not as good, but similar and quite nice in its own right) I like Ava-Luxe Viva.

I’ll have to procure a sample of Viva. Thanks! Haven’t had much luck with Ava-Luxe scents, though.

I keep meaning to try this one, but never seem to remember to do it. It sounds really lovely.

[…] As I mentioned in my review of Yosh Ginger Ciao, most perfume oils tend to turn on my skin. As soon as they hit the drydown stage, I get a wet dough note. I’m not quite sure why that happens, other than it must have something to do with the quality of the ingredients. The only two perfume oil lines (so far) that spare me from the doughyness are Yosh and Jalaine. […]

[…] I’m generally not a lover of perfume oils. As I said in one of my previous posts, most oils tend to turn on my skin, in spite of how gorgeous they might be in top notes. I have tried quite a few, of various price ranges, and have concluded that in order for a perfume oil to work, it has to contain excellent quality ingredients, especially in the base. The two brands that fall into this category are Jalaine and Yosh. I have already raved briefly about one Yosh creation, Ginger Ciao, and one Jalaine creation, Vetiver. Today I’d like to rave about yet another Yosh stunner, Phenomenon. […]
