Yves Rocher Jardins des Iles and Montale Intense Tiare
June 5th, 2006

I’ve decided to add a new category called Smell-alikes where I’ll be featuring scents I find similar. Today’s picks: Jardins des Iles alcohol-free body spray by Yves Rocher and Intense Tiare eau de parfum by Montale. Both contain tiare, the exotic Tahitian flower. While Jardins des Iles is a much simpler (and cheaper!) composition, it manages to convey the scent of Monoi de Tahiti perfectly. I’d pick this on a humid summer day. In contrast, Intense Tiare is more complex, with additional notes of ylang-ylang, vanilla, coconut milk, jasmine, and rose. It has a superb staying power. I’d pick this for an evening wear on a humid summer night. I invite you to discover these luscious summer scents if you haven’t already. Jardins des Iles can be purchased at Yves Rocher; Montale Intense Tiare can be purchased at Suravionline, The Perfume Shoppe as well as the Montale online boutique.

Great category. Must try the Yves Rocher. Why do I always end up w/ the expensive ones first??

I know! I tend to overlook the cheapies myself.

Oh my god Ina! I was just about to do the same thing, except I’m calling it “Perfumista on a Shoe-String” - it’s going to be a mixed category of budget scents and replacement (not dupe) scents.
Just wanted to let you know so that you don’t think I am shamelessly stealing the idea from you:) Great minds think alike:)

Oh, no! Of course I don’t think that, silly. I don’t plan to feature cheap alternatives, just smell-alikes in general.

It’s a great focus and very much in tune with the contemporary perfume landscape. You will have much to say

I think that it is a great idea! In general, it is interesting to compare fragrances, because nearly everything we know is derived from something else. Even the great Guerlain classics.
